David Shaw is middle-aged, slightly chonky, software engineer. He created The Stars Beyond in 1999 and published it in 2001 under the name of Profiteer.ca.
The game lasted online until mid 2007. It has been resurrected by Mr. Shaw to occupy his time at the end of the 2020 pandemic.
